Zambia: Bandits Snatch K15 Million in Lusaka
Narrating the incident, commercial analyst for Pagrik Oriental Steel, Manmohan Swami said the robbery occurred at 08:05 hours when he was being driven to the office premises on Mungwi Road in Lusaka.
Mr Swami said when he approached the gate with his driver, Jack Singuwa, a white Toyota Corolla followed them and three robbers in masks asked the duo to disembark from the car and lie down.
Mr Swami said there were four people in the car but the driver did not come out, as the engine was not switched off.
"My driver was just hooting when three bandits, each with AK 47 rifles, came out of a Toyota Corolla and told us to come out.
"They got the money and two bags, one containing my laptop and another containing official documents," Mr Swami said.
Pagrik Continental Steel is a smelting plant and Mr Swami suspects that the bandits might be people who know the business transactions of the firm.He reported the matter to Matero Police Station.
Police spokesperson Bonny Kapeso could not confirm the report because he was in Ndola attending the Zambia International Trade Fair.
