Approximately 1,220 non-union workers filed a class action suit against the one time towel and sheet giant after it closed abruptly in July 2003, throwing 7,650 people out of work nationwide. The class action claimed Pillowtex owed workers vacation pay and alleged the plant failed to give sufficient shutdown notifications. Pillowtex has proposed a $2.56 million class action settlement.
