LES-AC and ASST Discuss Investment in Technology Transfer

DAMASCUS - The Arab School for Science and Technology (ASST) and the Licensing Executives Society – Arab Countries (LES-AC) are holding a Conference on “Achieving Business Growth through Investment in Technology Transfer” July 7- 8, 2008.

Two Seminars, the first on “Technology Development in the World and the Challenges Facing MENA Region” will also take place July 6, 2008 and the second on “Basics of Licensing and Technology Transfer” July 9-10, 2008 in Damascus, Syria.

The Conference aims at highlighting the importance of Intellectual Property (IP) as financial assets and profit generating tools for both business and Research & Development sectors, understanding how profit can be generated through IP and using licensing as a strategic option for IP commercialization.

The different sessions of the Conference will tackle issues related to how to harvest, protect and commercialize innovation, using licensing as a strategic option for IP commercialization, implementation and control of licensing agreements, patent strategy and technology management strategies, in addition to others.

Some of the key speakers are Marketing and International Business Professor, at German Jordanian University Dr. Zuhair Al-Obaidi, Regional Executive Director of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Valuation Ehab Dawoud, Development Manager, Arab Science and Technology Foundation Dr. Wissam Rabadi and Consultant/ Information Technology Officer, Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) Dr. Hratch Kouyoumjian.
