Visto Patent Ruled Valid by USPTO
REDWOOD CITY, CA - Visto Corporation announced in a Thursday press release that the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has validated one of its patents that had been submitted for re-exam. Twenty-one of the claims for US Patent No. 7,039,679 (the ‘679 patent) were confirmed and ruled patentable.
“We are pleased that the USPTO has once again validated our ‘679 patent, a key patent in our upcoming trial against Research In Motion (RIM), scheduled to begin on July 7 in US Federal Court based in Marshall, Texas,” said Daniel Mendez, Visto’s co-founder and executive vice president.
“We are confident in the strength of our patents, especially in light of this ruling. We also appreciate the hard work of the patent office and its willingness to review more than 3,000 documents such as prior art documents and litigation materials submitted by RIM and Visto as part of the re-exam process for the Visto patents.”
