Mexico City Selected to Host 34th International Public Meeting

MARINA DEL REY, CA - The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) announced in a Tuesday press release that Mexico City, Mexico will host the Corporation’s 34th International Public Meeting 1-6 March, 2009.

At its June 26, 2008 meeting, the ICANN Board accepted the proposal to host the meeting put forward by the Mexican Internet Association (AMIPCI).

"ICANN looks forward to its first meeting in Mexico," ICANN's Executive Officer and Vice President - Corporate Affairs Paul Levins said.

"Mexico has been a great supporter of ICANN since its inception," he added.

The dedicated website for the meeting as well as the meeting venue will be the announced in the near future.

Additionally, ICANN's next meeting will be held November 2-7, 2008 in Cairo, Egypt at the Intercontinental CityStars. The meeting is free to attend, and open to any interested person.

ICANN encourages broad participation in its bottom-up consensus-development processes. Any one can participate in these meetings in person, through the audiocast or other remote participation opportunities, and/or by joining one of the various ICANN-related mailing lists.
